In my order of preference: Post why you like spinning Cds > Records.
1. CD players were made to mix. If you got yourself some good CD 'turntables' they were designed to mix music and have features that help you mix great. Even an occasional DJ like myself can sound awesome.
2. Easier access to music. Tons of stuff I can get free over the net, tons of music I can copy off friends stuff. Records can be more limited in the total range of what you can find. Records are more time consuming and you have to hunt stuff down and look through alot of stuff.
3. Sound. Records have a unique sound, but I prefer the clarity of cds. Much better sound quality at high db.

Re: Why we like Cds
Fri, February 13, 2004 - 6:59 PMOh yeah... CDs mix very well. I came up in the vinyl genre, but I do now prefer mixing discs.
However - what about mixing straight from MP3s? I've done that a few times, toting the 'puter to the gig and just running it straight into the amp. I just use Winamp to stack up the tracks. Does anyone else do it that way? -

Fri, September 3, 2004 - 6:45 PMThere's much better software for doing that. Take a look at Trakor and PCDJ. They give you teh full functionality, beat matching, and cross fades and effects you find in $3000 rigs.

Re: Why we like Cds
Tue, February 17, 2004 - 2:01 PM1. I do prefer cds to vinyl for several reasons... It's easier for me to mix cds than vinyl... Even though I can do both.
Most of the music in my genre comes out primarily on cd and of course I can just copy cds... I would rather pay like 20 bucks for 9 songs than 10 for 2-4 songs. Yes, vinyl does have a warmer feel, but any decent producer who knows what he is doing can add that warmness to their track if they want that. I am not the biggest fan of mp3s though... I really notice the sound quality differential between wav files and mp3s. There is a frequency loss around the 80hz and below range and for dance music that really makes a difference... Yes I know in my picture I am mixing vinyl, but I do cds primarily... I was feeling nostalgic and it was a day party for a friend. -

Re: Why we like Cds
Sun, April 11, 2004 - 4:04 PMa bunch of reasons.....
mp3s are nice for helping you build a cd collection quick but sound shit on a bigrig like 20kW. you should buy cds as much as possible. liek one with every spindle ehehe.
vinyl is too heavy, melts easy, blows off in wind, gets scratched easy, you cant copy it, no super pitch or looping, no cue points, no time readout, well you get the picture.
as for psytrance you cant get but 10% of the releases on vinyl, and with cds you can play your own music into sets.
plus cds make rainbows better.
cheers!

Re: Why we like Cds
Wed, May 19, 2004 - 3:06 AMI play my own musiƱ and I play unreleased music from other artists.
So the CDs and MP3s are the only option, I'm not ready to invest in cutting dubplates of what I mix. And the nearest place where you can cut dubplates is about 1000 Km away.
CSs are the main option, beacuse for MP3 you need to get the PC to the club in most occasions. And the CD decks are always there, or atleast they are much ligher than the PC.

Re: Why we like Cds
Sun, June 19, 2005 - 11:20 AMBecause when if I end up getting a CD that I don't like, I can carve it into a ninja throwing star.
Also - CDs are much cooler to microwave than records.
QED.
(I will admit - records have the advantage in that you can turn them into cereal bowls.)
